how i made the OMORI minigame
Score:
2
god wow it has been a while since i've written a blog..
i was non-stop developing my website for the past couple of weeks (my github is green!) and i finally finished developing this omori minigame which took me like 10 days..
as part of making this i learned JS (i had 0 knowledge of it prior lol, all logic that i've done was in c# before and i avoid scripts as much as possible), and along with it i learned a game development library called "phaser" which lets you create games in web environments using js and stuff
developing in this language was miserable and horrible and i wanted to gouge my eyes out multiple times.. i started writing using ai which got me started yeah but that also led to me rewriting the whole game not once but TWICE because ai slop is never maintainable and is just a convenience tool, not a project builder!!
in my defense i had zero clue about the ecosystem that i was in so like.. i think my use of it is justified because i got a lot of examples on how to write code in js and how phaser works. the documentation was horrible and i kinda had no choice :<
but at least i've ended up with a scaleable infrastructure for creating game scenes! i also learned how to create maps and textures and stuff and i surely will probably most likely use this framework again in the future for a project that would come in mind!!
vvv you can check out the game here vvv
probably a lot of technical jargon for people who dont care about webdev but still you guys should give the game a try!!
