hmm i wonder what this will be about..
i finally got around to installing arch linux on my main pc and im writing this blog on my arch installation! it took me a total of 2 days to get a basic rice going and ive imported my projects here as well
i had debian on this system before i switched, and i hardly ever used debian on here. I always booted windows and used it since i couldnt bother with the discomfort that linux brought me (its a new os that i wasnt used to so yeah xd)
after moving to arch i felt much better. no stupid installer to run, i just had a command prompt through which i could handle everything that i would ever need to. it took me surprisingly little time to install, i did have some prior experience with installing arch but i never actually got around to using it. my first arch install was on the laptop that this server is running on, and i botched it pretty quickly after trying to install KDE plasma and having graphic artifacts and stuff that i really didnt want to bother with.
the second install was around a week ago since this blog was posted, when i installed arch on a VM. i kinda played around with it and looked at a window manager called awesomeWM. i liked awesomeWM a lot, since compared to prior UNIX UI interfaces that i've used - it gave me much more control.
one thing that i can tell you is to NEVER install arch linux on the windows EFI boot partition. idk why i did that, i thought that it would prevent windows from messing stuff up for some reason but instead i ended up with a boot drive on a 100MB partition which ran out of space while trying to install firmware and it was just a mess. i had to resize the arch installation and create a seperate partition for the boot drive which took a while.
so i ended up with a dual booted arch and windows setup on my computer. i downloaded awesomeWM here as well, and did the basicest of basic of rices which is attached below :p
